🧱Hyperobjects: The Next Hypertext
How Connected Objects Power a New Internet Built on Game Engines
Solarpunks are Hyperobjects: portable, metadata-rich digital identities that move across games.
Hyperobjects support:
Basejump titles (Broadside: Battle Mode now; more to come)
Hundreds of Thousands of VRM compatible games
Creator platforms (AI level generation, VRM pipelines)
Web2 avatar layers (social profiles, video overlays, AR filters)
Hyperobjects share similarities with NFTs, but because of the scalability afforded by AO, an individual hyperobject can be a large application, such as a AAA game or AI agent, as opposed to a simple image.
The Basejump platform will make it possible for players to create hyperobjects instantly to craft unique experiences, build new worlds, and participate in shared economies. Designed for interoperability, flexibility, and permanence, hyperobjects can be thought of as the hypertext of the gaming world in that they function as connective tissue—flexible, transferable, and useful across multiple platforms – much like hypertext in the Internet we use today.
How Big is the Market for Hyperobjects?
The total addressable market for Hyperobjects is massive. It includes the 3.3 billion people who play games globally, and the 5.04 billion who use social media where in-game assets serve as filters.
Two out of three people in the U.S. play games regularly. Tens of millions of people have blockchain-connected avatars and game assets in their wallets. Millions of creators make and sell in-game skins and character assets every month, and AI is accelerating build time and lowering the costs of making such assets, as well as making games and worlds themselves.
Processing power is increasing too, and as devices and platforms shift once again, innovations from AR and RWAs (Real World Assets) are blurring the lines between realities.
When Google launched, there were 25 million web pages. The market for Hyperobjects is already well past that point, and increasing exponentially. As well as being a place to create Hyperobjects, Basejump aims to be the best search and discovery surface for finding the Hyperobjects, communities, games and worlds that mean the most to you.
Hyperobjects are the connective tissue for the Spatial Internet.
Hyperobjects will be identities, prized possessions, and the ad units of the next Internet. Hyperobjects can and will be sold as collectibles, given away for free, or earned as rewards. At scale and over time, we anticipate billions of Hyperobjects existing across the Internet as platforms transition to spatial environments and millions of people begin creating them. The Basejump ecosystem, powered by ACTION, is designed to accelerate this transition, ensuring creativity, opportunity and intelligence are decentralized in the Internet we build next.
Hyperobjects can be both network aware and context aware, giving them the ability to perform different actions and unlock different experiences, depending on the environment they are in. A gun that fires rockets in a capture the flag game will fire glow sticks at a metaverse rave. A social filter from your favorite digital makeup artist also functions as armor in your favorite RPG, and gets you a discount on the physical makeup in-store. A cool object you mint from your favorite TV show also works in your go-to cozy game, and as you engage with it, surprises you by unlocking access to a VIP event with the show cast IRL.
Hyperobjects are easy to transfer or trade between many types of game, platform or marketplace. You own them as opposed to the game, platform or world where you got them from, and you get to keep them. Forever.
Because the possibilities presented by Hyperobjects are staggering, we built this first collection of Solarpunk Hyperobjects to demonstrate what they can do.
